film profile]), producer Cédomir Kolar (Before the Rain, No Man’s Land, Train of Life) and the Marten Rabarts, the artistic director of the Binger Filmlab of Amsterdam, livened up the first seminar of the MAIA Workshops 2006 training course, funded by the EU’s MEDIA Programme and aimed at new European cinema and audiovisual producers (see news).
The seminar, which was held in Madrid on April 21-22, brought together producers, screenwriters and directors from throughout Europe, inaugurating a training program whose next seminars will take place in Hungary and Italy.
The topic of the seminar was the specificity of European cinema, in terms of style, subject matter and content, with particular attention paid to Mihaileanu’s Go, See and Become and the relationship between producers and directors according to Kolar’s experiences with Mihaileanu, Danis Tanovic and Milcho Manchevski.
This inaugural session in Madrid was organised by the screenwriting school La Factoría del Guión and PromoMadrid, a publicity company of the City of Madrid.
