Malvinas/Falklands war drama Blessed By Fire was chosen the Best Narrative Feature at the 5th Tribeca Film Festival (USA), adding another prize to its list of international awards.

Directed by Argentinean filmmaker Tristán Bauer, Blessed by Fire was co-produced in Spain as a result of the fifth edition of "Film in Progress" (2004), a meeting of film professionals that takes place twice a year, during the San Sebastian Film Festival and Toulouse's Rencontres Cinémas Amérique Latine.

Focused on the unequal 1982 war between the UK and Argentina over the possession of the Falklands/Malvinas Islands, Blessed by Fire had a triumphant premiere in September 2005 at San Sebastian, where it received critical acclaim and the Special Jury Prize. The film was also awarded at the Havana Film Festival and this year’s Goyas.

Released in Spain by Alta Films on January 27, the film is among the most successful co-productions of the local box office, with 26,247 admissions and over €134,934 grossed. Latido Films is handling the international sales.
