StudioCanal looks for buyers for new Kusturica title

French international sales company StudioCanal has a plentiful line-up of titles for the upcoming Film Market of the 59th Cannes Film Festival (May 17-28).

The team, headed by Muriel Sauzay, will also launch the sales of Promets-le moi [+see also:

, the eighth feature by Emir Kusturica. Currently in production, this film from French outfit Fidélité is about the misadventures of a young man living in a deserted village on an isolated hill, trying to respect the last wishes of his grandfather in his will: to return to town to sell their only cow, buy a religious icon and find a wife. But this mission does not go as planned.

by Mathieu Kassovitz that StudioCanal is selling in continental Europe together with Legende (the film’s producer) and which has already been sold to Germany, Spain, Greece and Eastern European countries. However, the French company is also hoping to sell two features by Wong Kar-wai (My Blueberry Nights with Norah Jones and Lady from Shangai with Nicole Kidman) and a collection of three remakes, The Thriller Collection, produced by John Woo.

Also in production are Babies by Thomas Balbès and the animated film Franklin et le talisman magique by Dominique Monféry (already sold to Germany and the Benelux countries). Rounding up the line-up are Inland Empire by David Lynch (already sold to several European territories), Petites peurs partagées by Alain Resnais, Mauvaise foi by Roschdy Zem with Cécile de France, I’m the Other Woman by Margarethe von Trotta (already sold to Germany, Benelux, Switzerland and Italy through a co-production) and Ma place au soleil by Eric de Montalier with Jacques Dutronc, Elodie Bouchez, Nicole Garcia and André Dussollier.
