Sofia’s first time

Bulgaria will participate with a stand for the first time at the Cannes Film Festival, along with Romania.
Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic participated together in the festival in 2004, the year these countries joined the EU.
The Ministry of Culture will provide funding for Bulgaria’s presentation and the National Film Centre and Sofia Film Fest will organise the event. Participating at Cannes gives the Bulgarian movie industry unique presentation opportunities for popularising its productions, specifically the 10 new films that will be completed by the end of this year.
A Bulgarian party will be held on May 22, to which film professionals from around the world have been invited.
