Young producers in class with MAIA
Fifteen young producers from throughout Europe tackled key questions on developing film and audiovisual projects in the first residential workshop of the MAIA Workshops 2006 cycle aimed at new European producers.
The main topics during the intense weeklong workshop, held May 29-June 3 in Parco del Monte Conero (Ancona), were choosing a project, working with the crew and the screenplay, promotion and pre-marketing strategies, and an introduction to using digital in the development phase.
The high-profile international panel of tutors included Alejandro de la Fuente (producer, media consultant, Italy), Graziella Bildesheim (producer, MAIA director, Italy); Dagmar Benke (screenwriter, dramaturgy expert, Germany); Judith Higginbottom (producer, project development, UK); Marco Dinoi (professor, digital technologies expert, Italy); Steve Walsh, (producer, distributor, UK/ Austria); Valeria Richter (producer, Denmark) who held lessons daily and also worked in groups.
This is the second encounter of the MAIA program this year. The first took place in Madrid last April, the next will be Budapest, in the Lazio region in Italy and in Rome.
MAIA Workshops 2006 is the first Italian training program for producers backed by the EU’s MEDIA Programme. A Fabulafilm initiative, it is organized in collaboration with the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, Zoneattive and Minimum fax.
