Funding for films on both sides of the Rhine
At a meeting of the French-German Commission of the FFA (Filmförderungsanstalt) held on June 23, four co-productions were granted funding of €1,290,750.
Benoît Jacquot's next film, the €6m budget Capri 1934, a screen adaptation of the novel by Alberto Moravia to be filmed in English in Italy, Germany and the South of France and star the young actress Julia Jentsch, was granted €200,000 to its French production outfit Pyramide (70%) and €160,000 to its German co-producer Integral Film (30%).
La chambre d'ami (lit. "The Friend's Room") by Christian de Chalonge also fared well, with €150,000 allocated to the German outfit NFP Teleart (60%) and €220,000 to French company Fidelbroc (40%).
Tengri – le bleu du ciel (lit. "Tengri – The Blue Sky") – directed by Marie Jaoul de Poncheville and supported by ARTE – was granted a total sum of €270,000: €90,000 to its German co-producer, Cine Dok Filmproduktion (30%), and €180,000 to its French partner, L Films (70%).
Lastly, the FFA granted €87,750 to Berlin-based 27 Films Production (22%) and €203,000 to Paris-based production outfit Les Films du Requin (78%) for Dawn of the World by Abbas Fahdel.
