Swiss films at Locarno

Further details of the programme of the 59th Locarno International Film Festival (August 2-12) have been revealed by Frédéric Maire, the festival’s new artistic director, who takes over from Irene Bignardi.

Das Fräulein by Andrea Staka will feature in official competition, while there will be an open air screening in the Piazza Grande of Mon frère se marie (lit. “My Brother’s Getting Married), the first fiction film by the director of Corn in the Parliament, Jean-Stéphane Bron, starring Jean-Luc Bideau and Aurore Clément; the documentary La Liste de Carla (lit. “Carla’s List”) by Marcel Schüpbach; animated feature Jeu (lit. “Game”) by Georges Schwizgebel; and the short film Rachel by Frédéric Mermoud.
