FESTIVALS Germany

eDIT 9, A Journey in Space and Time

by

The 9th edition of the eDIT Filmmaker's Festival, which will take place on September 24-26 at the CineStar METROPOLIS in Frankfurt am Main, is focusing once again on the Art and Science of Moving Images.

This event offers filmmakers of all kinds (cinema, television, commercials, etc.) a wide series of seminars, panels and workshops on many crucial themes, such as directing, producing, editing, production design, post-production, cinematography, digital production and visual effects – the latter is thoroughly dealt with in a high-quality, diverse programme unique to Europe.

Producers and other professionals will also have the opportunity to get advice and information from international speakers. The rich variety of this event is in fact echoed by the list of participants who have attended the festival in the past, including such great names as Roland Emmerich, Dante Ferretti, Dennis Muren, Hungary's Vilmos Zsigmond, Phil Tippett, Peter Greenaway, Marco Müller, Sweden's Tom Rolf, and Emir Kusturica.

The emphasis eDIT puts on the future of filmmaking – on a technical level as well as in terms of young talent – is further confirmed by the eDwards, a competition for filmmakers under 30 that the festival is organising for the seventh time. The theme of the year is "Time Travel" and the young candidates have to illustrate it in 30 seconds. The deadline for applications is August 22.
