Isabella Ferrari mistress of opening and closing ceremonies
Italian actress Isabella Ferrari, who won the Coppa Volpi in Venice in 1995 for Ettore Scola’s Romanzo di un giovane povero (lit. “Novel By a Poor Young Man”), will be the Mistress of Ceremonies on the opening and closing nights of the 63rd Venice International Film Festival (August 30-September 9, 2006).
Ferrari will kick off the festival Wednesday, August 30, on the stage of the Palazzo del Cinema, welcoming the festival board, audiences and the president of the international jury Catherine Deneuve, along with the other members, during the opening ceremony, which will be followed by the screening of Brian De Palma’s competition title The Black Dahlia.
On September 9, she will host the closing ceremonies, during which the Lion Award winners will be announced, along with the other official prizes of the festival, and which will be followed by the out-of-competition screening of Ostrov by Pavel Lounguine.
