Pietro Bianchi Award for Bellocchio

The Italian Film Critics Union will present Marco Bellocchio with the Pietro Bianchi 2006 Award during the Venice Film Festival .

The prize will be given to him on September 8, before the screening in Sala Pasinetti of the Palazzo del Cinema of a film chosen by the director: Il diavolo in corpo with Maruschka Detmers, hailed in 1986 as a scandalous film and made available to Venice by Istituto Luce.

The award, which takes its name from a great critic, is the recognition that film journalists traditionally bestow upon the most talented figures of Italian cinema. In the past, the Bianchi Award was given to actors such as Alberto Sordi, Sophia Loren and Nino Manfredi; producers such as Dino De Laurentiis and Goffredo Lombardo; and a number of directors, including Mario Soldati, Cesare Zavattini, Alessandro Blasetti, Mario Monicelli, Luigi Comencini, Giuseppe De Santis, Francesco Rosi, Dino Risi, Ettore Scola, Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, Carlo Lizzani, Bernardo Bertolucci and Michelangelo Antonioni.
