Muccino returns to the US

Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz will star in A Little Game Without Consequences, to be directed by Italian filmmaker Gabriele Muccino and produced in France by Alain Chabat for Chez Wam. The film marks the company’s first foray into US cinema.

Muccino himself has already directed a Hollywood film : The Pursuit of Happyness, starring Will Smith, to be released by the end of the year.

His new film, inspired by the script of Bernard Rapp's film Un petit jeu sans conséquence (written by Jean Dell and Gérald Sibleyras), tells the story of an engaged couple who announce their separation as a joke and end up suffering much more than they had imagined.

A Little Game Without Consequences should start shooting on October 23 in New York. It is being co-produced by Stéphanie Danan and Domenico Procacci for the Italian company Fandango and by the US outfit Focus Features (Brokeback Mountain, Lost in Translation), who will distribute the film in the USA.

This is Fandango’s second international production this year, after Silk, adapted by Francois Girard from Alessandro Baricco's best-selling novel, and starring Michael Pitt, Keira Knightley, and Alfred Molina.
