The Berlinale Co-production market is looking for projects

by

The Berlinale Co-production Market (February 11-13, 2007), which allows producers to find co-producers, funding organisations, distributors and other financial partners, is now inviting production studios worldwide to submit projects for its fourth year.

This call for applications is all the more enticing since previous markets have all been a success. In 2006, 400 professional participants took part in almost 1,000 individual meetings and took advantage of the event’s convenient location, the Chamber of Representatives (opposite the European Film Market) for very constructive meetings.

Of the projects selected since the creation of the Co-production Market in 2004, some 30 are in production or have already been completed, 12 were released theatrically, and 10 screened at category A festivals, including Alexander Sokurov’s The Sun (Russia/Italy/France/Switzerland) and The Master by Piotr Trzaskalski (Poland/Germany).

To be eligible for participation in the market, which has been funded by MDM since 2004 and the MEDIA Programme since 2005, the budget of proposed projects must be between €2 and €10m (except for developing countries, whose minimum level has been cut to €1m), 30% of which has to be already secured.

Registration forms are available on the Berlin Film Festival website. The final closing date for applications is November 2.
