The selection committee of the Macedonian Directors’ Association has chosen Contact [+see also:

film profile] by Sergej Stanojkovski to represent their country in the running for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, for which five finalists will be nominated on January 23.
The debut feature, which tells of the encounter of two people on the fringes of society is a co-production between Germany (Busse & Halberschmid ) and Macedonia (Skopje Film Studio), with support from Eurimages, among others.
The film has already been screened at over 30 international festivals and has won several awards (Audience Award at the Linz Crossing Europe festival and the Special Golden Remi Jury Award at Houston). International sales are being handled by Eastwest Filmdistribution.
