Kinowelt takes the reins of Pegasos

Michael Kölmel's company Kinowelt is widening its scope. At the beginning of the week, it took control of the Cologne-based distribution and production company Pegasos, which has a catalogue of over 80 documentaries and feature films, including several international co-productions. Pegasos founders Ernst Szebedits and Karl Baumgartner will stay on as consultants.

Pegasos’ patrimony has yet to be evaluated in terms of the DVD sector, but the excellent catalogue leaves little doubt about its potential, with features such as Eternity and a Day by Theo Angelopoulos (winner of the 1998 Palme d'Or), and German film The State I Am In by Christian Petzold, as well as documentaries, including Super 8 Stories by Emir Kusturica and two German co-productions, Ayurveda: Art of Being by Pan Nalin and Darshan by Jan Kounen.
