PRODUCTION France

Gaumont ain’t scared

by

Produced by 7e Apache Films, debut feature Ain’t Scared by 23 year-old director Audrey Estrougo is being co-produced, distributed and sold by the all-inclusive Gaumont group.

This is a rather surprising association for a film that is set to begin shooting next Monday and one which will tackle a particularly sensitive and topical subject: the malaise of young people in France’s suburban cités and the violence reigning there between men and women (see article).

Started at Cannes, negotiations between the small independent production outfit, run by directing duo Bruno Petit and Xavier Durringer, and the giant outfit have come about through the personal involvement of Gaumont Director General Franck Chorot. This partnership has led to a downward revision from €420,000 to €380,000 on advances on receipts approved to Ain’t Scared by the Centre National de la Cinématographie (CNC).
