FUNDING Germany

From anarchy to animation

by

The French-German co-production commission, which met on November 9, awarded €980,000 to three new projects: 35 Rhums by French director Claire Denis, who received €330,000 (see news), and two German majority co-productions, Die Frauen des Anarchisten (lit. “The Anarchists’ Women”) and Ein Fall für Freunde (lit. “A Case for Friends”).

Die Frauen des Anarchisten by Peter Sehr (Berlin Niagara with Charles Berling, Daniel Craig and Daniel Gélin, Love the Hard Way with Adrien Brody) and his wife and occasional co-scriptwriter Marie Noëlle opens with an encounter between Manuela and the man of her life, Justo. However, all does not go as planned, as in 1936 Madrid one had to choose one’s camp, and Justo chooses to fight as an anarchist on the side of the Republicans.
