UK FC awards £317,000 in P&A support

and Paul Andrew WilliamsLondon To Brighton are among 12 feature films that were awarded a total of £317,000 in Print and Advertising (P&A) support from the UK Film Council to help them reach wider audiences around the UK.

Verve Pictures received £90,000 towards the release of the Cannes Jury prize-winning film Red Road and was able to double its print run and increase its spending on publicity. The film grossed £244,848 from 25 screens in three weeks. Vertigo received £40,000 towards P&A spending on London to Brighton, to be released via the UK Film Council’s Digital Screen Network (DSN) on December 1.

Optimum Releasing received £90,000 for Joon-ho Bong’s Korean film The Host, released on November 10, and was able to increase its print run by 20 venues as well as advertising spending. Artificial Eye received £62,000 for Denis Dercourt’s French thriller The Page Turner [+see also:

for an additional 10 prints, an increase in advertising spending and a new trailer. The film has grossed over £147,000 from 18 screens after only five days.

Soda Pictures received two awards of £5,000 each for Hans-Christian Schmid’s German film Requiem [+see also:

(released last Friday) and Anders Banke’s Swedish horror film Frostbite [+see also:

(to be release December 8), to make them available on digital prints. Lionsgate received £1,970 for Jan Dunn’s debut feature Gypo (released on October 20) and £5,000 for David Leaf and John Scheinfeld’s documentary The US vs. John Lennon, which will have a digital release on December 8.

Revolver received £5,000 for Special, by Hal Haberman and Jeremy Passmore, while the IMS 5 Limited Liability Partnership received £4,725 for Reg Traviss’ Joy Division. Both films were released last Friday, November 16, by the DSN.

The ICA received £4,500 for Neil Armfield’s Candy and, lastly, Park Circus was allotted £3,800 for the re-release of Woody Allen’s classic film Manhattan on December 8.
