Scanorama tour in three key cities

Nordic Film Forum Scanorama, the fourth mini-festival of Nordic films in Lithuania, kicked off in Vilnius on November 10 with the screening of Baltasar Kormákur’s A Little Trip To Heaven [+see also:

Both directors are specials guests of the festival, representing the younger generation of Nordic filmmakers who, according to festival director Grazina Arlickaite, “challenge the prevalent view that only the most renowned directors from this region achieve international recognition.”

Another young Nordic star director, Iceland’s Dagúr Kári, will be the subject of a Special Focus, introducing his two feature films Noi Albinoi and Dark Horse [+see also:

to Lithuanian audiences. A total of 20 new Nordic films will be unveiled over those three weeks, from Vilnius to the other major Lithuanian cities of Kaunas and Klaipeda.

The festival’s highlights will include a Focus on Swedish actress Lena Endre, an Ibsen and Cinema Special, a Special on Northern Laughter, the documentary programme Real Life, and a special Crossing Europe section in honour of the Austrian festival of the same name that takes place in the city of Linz.

This unique relationship with another young and ambitious European festival will culminate in 2009 with the nomination of Vilnius and Linz as twin cultural capitals of Europe.
