EVENT Slovenia

Slovenia Express in Milan

by

Milan audiences will get an introduction to Slovenian films at the Slovenia Express festival, taking place this weekend (November 24-26).

The programme features six titles, from Boštjan Hladnik's Dancing in the Rain (1961) to two films by Jan Cvitkovič, a director who represents the best of the most recent revival in Slovenian cinema.

Cvitkovič will attend the event this evening at 8 pm to introduce his first feature, Bread and Milk (Kruh in mleko, 2001) – winner of the Lion of the Future at the 2001 Venice Film Festival – and his more recent Gravehopping, which opens in Italy in early 2007.

Gravehopping – winner of awards at the 2005 San Sebastian and Turin film festivals – will be the first ever Slovenian film to be released on Italian screens.

Slovenia Express is supported by Milan's City Hall and Milano Cinema, and organised by the Associazione Culturale Dioniso in collaboration with the Slovenian Film Fund (Ljubljana), and Kinoatelje (Gorizia). Trieste's General Consulate of Slovenia is also backing the event.
