a carries a €2.05m budget, including backing from the Burgundy region, advances in receipts of €410,000 from the Centre National de la Cinématographie (CNC) and selective funding of €145,000 from the Centre du Cinéma de la Communauté française de Belgique. Presented at the 2005 Rotterdam Cinemart, the film has not been bought by any French television channel.

Winner of the 2006 Jean Vigo Award, Silver Leopard for Best Director at the Locarno Film Festival this year (as well as a Special Mention from the Ecumenical Jury) and the Audience Award at the Belfort Film Festival in November, Demented opens in France on January 3 through Ad Vitam and is being sold internationally by Films Distribution.
