Run by Pauline Duhault, Elia Films won the third IFCIC Award for a Newly-Created Independent Production Company, a prize awarded to TS Productions in 2004 and Productions du Trésor in 2005.

The IFCIC (Financing Institute for the Cinema and Cultural Industries) awards its prize to an outfit that has been successful in raising money, for the preparation or the making of a feature, with professionalism recognised by all its industry and financial partners.

The film opens in Portugal, where melancholic French woman Sara meets failed director Paul. The story continues in a rural French town where drug-addicted musician Nina crosses paths with Yves, who is in his forties and has no lust for life. The film’s final scenes are in Paris, where Paul’s wife Hélène and police officer Vince, who is investigating a drug trafficking case between France and Portugal, meet in a hospital where Hélène has brought her grandson for an emergency and where Vince’s wife is in a coma.

Bac Films will release the film in French cinemas in spring 2007, while Roissy Films will handle international sales.

The IFCIC was set up in 1983 to facilitate access to credit for cultural enterprises. Thanks to public funding, especially the Centre National de la Cinématographie (CNC), the body guarantees short to medium-term bank loans to film and audiovisual producers, as well as to technical industry professionals and cinema exhibitors.
