Trigger and Nicolai Cleve Broch in spotlight

The upcoming Berlinale (February 08-18) will be used as a launching pad for Gunnar Vikene’s film Trigger selected in competition at the Generation Kplus sidebar and for up-and-coming actor Nicolai Cleve Broch, chosen as Norway’s 2007 Shooting Star.

Trigger is Vikene’s second feature following his acclaimed 2002 debut Falling Sky. The director’s new film, about 11 year-old Alise’s encounter with a wild horse on the run, has attracted over 100,000 Norwegian cinemagoers since its August release through SF.

The Nordic co-production between Cinenord (Norway), Miso Film (Denmark) and Cinenord (Sweden) is being sold by SF international. In Berlin, it will screen in the Generation section (previously known as Kinderfilmfest), next year in its 30th edition.

Meanwhile, Bloch, from Norway’s younger acting generation, has been selected by the Norwegian Film Institute to take part in the European Film Promotion Shooting Star event. The 31 year-old actor, who graduated from the Norwegian Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1999, is an established name in Norway’s theatre scene and a current member of the country’s National Theatre.

On the big screen, he quickly became a household name with Morten Tyldum’s successful romantic comedy Buddy (2003). In 2004, he appeared in Aksel Hennie’s Uno and this year in Stefan Faldbakken’s acclaimed debut feature Uro [+see also:

. Nicolai has also lent his voice for the dubbing of many blockbuster children's films, including animated titles Lilo & Stitch and Brother Bear, as well as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

In Berlin, the 2007 Shooting Stars will be introduced to the media and industry people from February 10-12.
