M&M Film release Rohonyi’s Konec

by

Hungarian outfit M&M Film got off to a successful start in feature production, with Gábor Rohonyi’s film Konec (Konyec - Az utolsó csekk a pohárban).

Released today on Hungarian screens through HungariCom, the title will be presented to the international press at the 38th Hungarian Film Week (January 30-February 6).

Specialists in commercials, for which they won several prizes, the outfit drew on its in-house resources for Konec. Director Rohonyi – who makes his feature debut with the film – is one of the managers at M&M while DoP Péter Szatmári (Dealer by Benedek Fliegauf) also works regularly for the company.

A comedy and road movie, Konec follows an elderly couple who, after years of leading a humdrum life, are transformed into a Bonnie & Clyde through their involvement in criminal activities. Starring Emil Keres (81) and Teri Földi (72), the two characters meet young Andor (Zoltán Schmied) and Ági (Judit Schell) on their travels. Schell became a star in Hungary last year with her role in Krisztina Goda’s Just Sex and Nothing Else.

The film was scripted by 29 year-old Balázs Lovas, who has already proven his comedic writing talent with three films by Zsombor Dyga (Killers in 2000, Tesó in 2003 and Kész cirkusz in 2005).

With a six-week shoot in Budapest and Dunaújváros, the €1.07m Konec was produced by M&M Film in co-production with TV2 and received €98,000 from the Motion Picture Public Foundation of Hungary.
