ANICA data: "Slow growth"

"Slow growth" was the assessment made of the 2006 Italian film industry, the statistics of which were presented today by ANICA (the umbrella group for all the associations and organizations working within the Italian entertainment industry) and from which emerge a growth, albeit a nominal one.

The data from the past year was supplied by ANICA president Paolo Ferrari, Riccardo Tozzi of Cattleya, Paolo Pozzi of UNIDIM, president of ANEM Carlo Bernaschi, UNITEC president Manlio Cruciatti and Alberto Francesconi of AGIS.

"2006 was a positive year for Europe, despite contrasting data", said Ferrari. "While Spain experienced a downward trend, France and Great Britain had a positive year. Growth in the Italian film industry, on the other hand, topped off at + 2% with respect to 2005".

In 2006, Italy invested €257m in the industry, for a market share of 25% compared to 19.17% in 2001.
