e-Talenta: First database for European talent
by Cineuropa
International casting director Beatrice Kruger has founded the first and only pan-European casting platform, e-Talenta European Actors & Artists Connection, to be presented at the 57th Berlin Film Festival, which kicks off today.
With over 15 years experience, Kruger, who runs the Rome-based FBI Casting company, has created a centralised, multi-language, interactive online database featuring artist profiles (including photo, agent contact, resume and show reels) of both established and upcoming talent from over 25 European countries.
So far, e-Talenta already have exclusive partners in Bulgaria, France and Italy as well as collaborating casting experts in Denmark, Germany, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.
The objective of the database – based on the same successful formula behind Britain’s best-known casting directory, The Spotlight, which has joined with e-Talenta in a strategic and technological partnership – is to use the power of the Internet and give professional European actors and actresses equal opportunity to be visible on an international level.
According to the company’s mission statement, “The cultural importance of films and theatre coming out of Europe goes hand in hand with the recognition of Europe’s increasing pool of talented actors. Consequently, the circulation and ‘visibility’ of these talents must be guaranteed so that professionals can find and contact them no matter what their native language is and where they live”.
