Nordisk adds Bornedal and Espinosa to slate

Nordisk Film International Sales has just signed a deal for international distribution rights to three films produced by Thura Film: The Substitute [+see also:

and Just Another Story, both by Ole Bornedal (Nightwatch), and Ghetto [+see also:

by Daniel Espinosa.

In The Substitute Paprika Steen plays a cynical and merciless substitute teacher who makes life hell for a class of kids who think she is an alien. The cast includes Ulrich Thomsen and Sonja Richter. The Danish release is set for spring 2007.

Just another Love Story, to be directed by Bornedal late 2007, is a thriller about Jonas (Anders W. Berthelsen), a worn-out husband and father who one day causes a car accident. The next day, the female driver suffers with amnesia and Jonas is mistakenly taken for the woman's new boyfriend. Other cast members include Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Charlotte Fich.

Espinosa’s Ghetto is a modern Romeo & Juliet story starring David Dencik (2007 Danish Shooting Star, see interview) as a 27 year-old Jewish security guard who falls for the Pakistani owner of a corner shop.

Nordisk, represented by sales executives Tine Klint, Susan Wendt and Sanne Arlo, is also offering two new titles at Berlin’s EFM: Tomas Villum Jensen's Clash of Egos [+see also:

(280,000 admissions in Denmark), a satire of the film industry starring Thomsen and Lie Kaas, as well as children’s film The Lost Treasure of the Knights Templar 2 by Giacomo Campeotto, produced by Tivi Magnusson and Mie Andreasen.

Nordisk is furthermore finishing up sales on critically acclaimed Norwegian title Reprise [+see also:

and negotiating Jannik Johansen´s second feature after Stealing Rembrandt, White Night, currently filming in Copenhagen. The drama, starring Nicolas Bro and Ane Sophie Byder, is produced by Danish outfit Nimbus Film in collaboration with Fine& Mellow.
