The festival will also feature the first Malta International Film Market (MIFM), to be held from September 16-23 and aimed at promoting and opening channels of communication between international film companies. The participants, who will be selected by the MIFM Board of Directors, will include: production and distribution companies, film facility and equipment companies, national film centres, films publications, broadcasters and representatives from other festivals.

Both the festival and the market are expected to increase the visibility of Malta on the international film scene, and promote the territory as an advantageous shooting location (see dossier Filming in Malta, including interview with Oliver Mallia, director of the Malta Film Commission).
