Nordisk strikes gold with Lost Treasure

Nordisk Film International Sales has racked up sales on children’s adventure film The Lost Treasure of the Knights Templar 2 by Giacomo Campeotto, which had its world premiere at the market.

The follow-up to Denmark’s biggest hit among family films was sold to Benelux (A Film), Japan, Thailand, the CIS and Brazil. Sales executive Susan Wendt said she was also in final negotiations with France and Germany. The film will open in Denmark on March 30.

Clash of Egos, Tomas Villum Jensen’s satire on the Danish film industry, was pre-sold to Benelux (A Film) before Berlin and is in negotiations for Germany".

A third title picked up by A Film for Benelux is Asger Leth’s documentary Ghost of Cité Soleil about two Haitian gang leaders who strive to make better choices in a world with no choice at all in early 2004. The film was also picked up by Revolver Entertainment (UK), ThinkFilm (US), Against Gravity (Poland) and Vadde Van Kras (Bulgaria).

"Everything has grown incredibly at the EFM over the last two years", said Wendt. "There are many more buyers from the US and Japan, for instance, and the whole world seems to be here now! Scandinavian children films continue to sell well – notably in Germany.

Nordisk has three feature films that will be ready for Cannes: Bård Breien’s feature debut The Art of Negative Thinking, produced by established Norwegian outfit Maipo Films (in which Nordisk Film recently took a stake); the new tragicomedy Til døden os skiller by actress/director Paprika Steen; and Swedish filmmaker Åke Sandgren’s new film To Love Someone, starring Rolf Lassgård and Sofia Ledarp.
