Seghatchian to head UK FC Development Fund

Tanya Seghatchian will take over as head of the UK Film Council’s Development Fund on April 1.

An active part of the film industry for over 10 years, Seghatchian worked with screenwriter Steve Kloves and producer David Heyman of Heyday Films to develop and co-produce the Harry Potter film franchise, and with filmmaker Pawel Pawlikowski in setting up independent production company Apocalypso Pictures and producing his multiple award-winning My Summer of Love [+see also:

As a development consultant to Heyday, Seghatchian is executive producing The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time for Warner Bros., with Kloves as writer/director.

Most recently, she executive produced French filmmaker Francois Ozon’s first English-language film, Angel [+see also:

, which was shown in competition as the closing night film of last month’s Berlinale, and is developing/co-producing Arnaud Desplechin’s adaptation of Philip Roth’s novella Deception.

Announcing Seghatchian’s appointment, John Woodward, CEO of the UK FC, said: “Tanya has forged an exceptional reputation for finding exciting film projects and working with talent to develop scripts that work in the studio and independent film worlds and win both audiences and awards.”

Seghatchian replaces Jenny Borgars, who has headed the £4m Lottery-funded Development Fund since 2000 and steps down from the post at the end of this month.
