Korda Studios ready for business
With a first phase launched on April 3, Korda Studios plan to produce their first films in July, thereby marking the start of business for what is expected to be a leading international production facility (see news).
Built for €83m on a site in Etyek, 27km northeast of Budapest, the Studios have six sets, all of which should be up and running by December for the third and final phase of the project.
The concept of the solely private funded studios came about 15 years ago and started to become a reality in 2004 thanks to investment from Hungarian businessman Sandor Demjan. Partners on the project include Hungarian-born producer Andrew Vajna (Children of Glory [+see also:

The complex run by László Krisán features the latest production and post-production technology and hopes to attract big-budget foreign productions to Etyek through Hungarian tax incentives for film production.
It is likely that the Studios’ promoters will use the Cannes Film Festival as an occasion to draw international attention to the outfit.
