On May 22, the Polish Film Institute (PISF) will hold Polish Day at Cannes as part of the Tous les Cinémas du Monde section.

Three features will screen: Xawery Żuławski’s Chaos [+see also:

( ), Konrad Niewolski’s Palimpsest [+see also:

; four short films (Filip Marczewski’s Melodrama, Marcin Pieczonka’s Kilka fotografii, Maciej Adamek’s Fabryka and Rafał Kapeliński’s Emily Cries) and a documentary (The Seeds by Wojciech Kasperski). The directors will take part in a round table devoted to Polish cinema, held on the same day.

On the evening of May 21, audiences will be invited to a screening of Andrzej Wajda’s second film Canal to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the director’s win of the Special Jury Prize at the 10th Cannes Film Festival.

Poland is also represented in the other festival sections. Grzegorz Jonkajtys and Marcin Kobylecki’s animated film Ark and Joanna Jurewicz’s Goyta have been selected in the Cinéfondation and Piotr Mularuk from Yeti Films (co-producer of Peter Greenaway’s Nightwatching) features in the Producers on the Move programme (see interview)

Two industry publications from the PISF – New Polish Films 2007 and the Polish Film Guide – will be available on the Polish stand and used to promote the Polish film industry.
