What these four features have in common is that they were all produced as part of a series of seven features entitled "Fait divers", an initiative of private Flemish channel VTM in co-production with the Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds (see interview).

In addition to backing by the Flemish institution of €187,500, these four low-budget productions of under €1m also received €220,000 from the VAF for their theatrical release.

This initiative was a success on several levels and is being continued in 2007. Of the 150 treatments received, 12 were selected and five scripts were finally developed and chosen, and are expected to be made during the year and ready for a 2008 release.

The private channel is expected to invest €500,000 in each project. One of the projects is Enthoven’s new feature, Happy Together, a new dramatic and social comedy written by Jacques Boon and Mariano Van Hoof, which is expected to be produced by Fobic Films.

Other films are Aanrijding in Moscou, written by Jean-Claude Van Rijckeghem and Pat van Beirs, directed by Christophe Van Rompaey and produced by A Private View; De Huurder, a thriller written by Dieter Rogiers, which will be directed by Frank Tulkens and produced by Het Productiehuis; horror film Linkeroever, from the slate of Caviar Films, directed by Pieter Van Hees, who co-wrote the script with Christophe Dirickx and Dimitri Karakatsanis; and De SM-rechter, written and directed by Erik Lamens and produced by Another Dimension of an Idea .
