According to the director, who also penned the script: "La troisième partie du monde adopts various registers (fantastic, erotic, scientific, suspense, sentimental drama) and has the sole aim of always wanting to surprise the audience."

The story begins when Emma (Poésy) meets François (Ulliel) at an airport. A love story in the countryside ensues. But one day, François disappears on a bicycle ride. Left all alone in a big house around which danger hovers, Emma becomes afraid, returns to Paris and continues her life as an estate agent.

François’ brother Michel (Ruf) contacts her and together they try to solve the mystery of François’ disappearance. But when he contacts Emma, Michel gradually transforms into a ghost. His wife Chiara (Sansa) goes to extremes to save him before he disappears completely, while Emma slowly realises that she possesses a frightening power.

Produced by Cédric Walter for Château-Rouge Production, who already worked with Forestier on his latest short (Les grands espaces, in competition at the 2007 Angers Premiers Plans Festival), La troisième partie du monde was backed by CNC advances on receipts of €470,000, the Aquitaine region, the CNC new technology support scheme for production and SofiCiné.

The studio will carry out several special effects after the end of the film’s shoot on August 11 in Paris.

Shellac will release the film in France in the second half of 2008. Films Distribution is handling international sales.
