by

The European Producers Club (EPC) held its annual meeting at its 28th Co-production Forum (see article) during the recent Cannes Film Festival.

On the agenda was the election of the next two-year management committee, composed of France’s Jean Cazès (who was re-elected Club president – Initial Productions) and Antoine de Clermont-Tonnerre (Mact), Belgium’s Patrick Quinet (Artémis Productions), Spain’s Antonio Saura (Zebra Producciones) and Zurich-based producer Ruth Waldburger (Vega Film).

The members of the network’s new committee, which brings together over 50 leading independent producers from over 20 countries, are also an integral part of the EPC’s Council alongside Italy’s Marco Chimenz (Cattleya), Slovenia’s Dunja Klemenc (Studio Maj), France’s Yves Marmion (who is also treasurer of the Club – UGC YM) and Germany’s Martin Moszkowicz (Club vice president – Constantin Film Produktion) and Ira von Gienanth (Prokino Film).

Since it was set up in 1993, the EPC has been responsible for putting in place a network between its members (cooperation on projects, information support on changes in regulations and access to financing for films in different European countries) and lobbying for film production professionals, in particular on issues related to cultural diversity, piracy and video on demand.

Each year the Club organises five co-production forums in Europe and also heads three co-operation meetings in China, India and Japan, with the aim of giving industry professionals in Europe a better understanding of these three markets.
