760 co-producers for Même père même mère

by

Producers are not born but created. Somewhat out of passion, somewhat randomly. Not unlike how the film Même père même mère came to be – thanks to a network of collaborators that through the Internet (websites, newsletters, friends’ email addresses, Web TV, mailing lists) let people know when a new film is trying to get off the ground. Supporters of the initiative can thus contribute (for a minimum of €10) to a project’s budget, to officially become the film’s co-producers.

Malastradafilm is an alternative production and distribution company that chooses to promote so-called “from-the-bottom-up projects”, a new system that according to its supporters “allows people to relate to co-producers within a reciprocally human and intellectual exchange”.

In order to make Même père même mère, the filmmakers of Malastrada need 760 co-producers. Currently at 700, they are confident they will bridge the final gap in no time, thanks to funding that continues to flow in through the site www.malastradafilm.com.

All that is known about the project in development is that is it a road movie. The directors will begin at Ghélawé Centre, a small village in Burkina Faso, to then traverse the country and visit various other villages and cities. The script will take shape from their encounters with local artists and politicians.

The production company will donate 50% of the film’s DVD sales to Ghélawé, as well 70% of its television sales if it is picked up by a broadcaster.

Before Même père même mère and thanks to the help of 641 co-producers, Malastradafilm successfully financed and distributed the investigative film 13 Variazioni su un tema barocco, Ballata ai petrolieri in Val di Noto, which brought back to light the issue of the search for oil in Sicily.
