The Boss is “great”

Depressed? Not at all! To prove that he is in good spirits and busy working on Anti-Christ, Lars von Trier sent a photo of himself to the media with the message: “I AM GREAT”.

A good reason for him to be in a good mood is the current international success of his film The Boss of it All [+see also:

. After Italy, where Lucky Red scored with 185,845 admissions, the film has attracted over 80,000 cinemagoers in France and is still playing in some 25 cinemas according to distributor Les Films du Losange.

In Sweden and in Norway, Sonet and Fidalgo have registered a respective 17,000 and 7,000 admissions, with figures continuing to climb.

In the US, IFC has released the film only in New York so far but other US cities will follow over the summer, taking advantage of generally positive reviews. At home, von Trier’s comedy received poor reviews for the press and barely passed the 17,000 admissions mark.

The Danish filmmaker is now working on the script of the much-anticipated horror film Anti-Christ, which depicts Satan, rather than God, as the world’s creator. According to his personal assistant, however, the project will not go into production before early 2008. A dozen territories have already bought the film, including Lucky Red for Italy and 7 Video for Greece.
