New co-production agreement with Budapest

by

A new agreement has been signed by the Italian and Hungarian governments to facilitate and promote co-productions between the two countries. The bilateral agreement will allow for the reduction of a minimum quota in becoming co-production partners, from 30% to 20%, with the possibility of arriving at 10%.

At the same time, “the co-produced films will be considered Italian in Italy and Hungarian in Hungary. This means that our films produced in Hungary will enjoy all national tax reliefs and vice versa'', Danielle Gattegno Mazzonis, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, told Adnkronos Cultura. Mazzonis signed the agreement with Istvan Hiller, the Hungarian Minister of Education and Culture.

“This agreement is intended to reinforce the already solid relationship between the two countries,” continued Mazzonis, “ and falls within the framework of the UNESCO Convention on Cultural Diversity, which Italy and Hungary recently signed with the aim of promoting a multiculturalism made up of differences and similarities.
