was financed by France 3 Cinéma (€900,000 – half in pre-sales, half in co-production), the CNC (advances on receipts of €500,000 plus €70,000 through its new technology support scheme for production), the Ile-de-France region (€550,000) and the Fondation Gan (€67,000). The film also received two Sofica (€467,000 via Soficinéma 2 and €200,000 via EuropaCorp).

International sales
Sold worldwide by French/British outfit Dreamachine, who also invested €467,000 in minimum guarantees, the title has been picked up by a number of territories worldwide, in particular the UK (Optimum Releasing), Germany (Prokino Filmverleih Gmbh), Scandinavia (Sandrew Metronome ), Italy (BIM Distribuzione), Spain (Vertigo Films), Belgium (Cinéart-Cinélibre) North America (Sony Pictures Classics), Australia (The Weinstein Company), Japan (Longride) and Latin America (Sony).

Distribution
Diaphana, who invested €330,000 in its distribution rights in French cinemas (and €133,000 for video), is releasing Persepolis on June 27 on 200 screens.
