Gone with the Woman opens Haugesund

Petter Næss’s new film Gone With the Woman (Tatt av kvinnen) with ‘the Bothersome Man’, Trond Fausa Aurvåg in the lead, has been chosen to open the 35th Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund on August 18.

fame, has teamed up with Johan Bogaeus to bring the eponymous novel of Norwegian writer Erlend Loe to the big screen. Other cast members lending their talents to the story of a young and sensitive man and his experiences with love, include Marian Saastad Ortesen and Peter Stormare. The film is the first feature production for Olav Øen (Monster Film). Domestic release through SF Norge A/S is set for September 7, 2007.

This year’s Haugesund Film Festival will be inaugurated on August 17 with the Amanda Awards ceremony transmitted live by TV2 Norway. Members of the jury led by Sissel Benneche Osvold are filmmaker Erik Poppe, actresses Iram Haq, Trine Csango, and writer Hans Petter Blad. 13 awards will be handed out, including the newly reinstated Best Documentary Award. During the seven day’s festival which will close on August 24, several sections will complement the official programme such as Cinema Italia, the French Touch, the Critics’ Week and for film professionals, the 13th New Nordic Films (August 21-24) and the 2nd Co-production Forum (August 22-24). This year’s two days co-production event will focus on co-productions between Germany and Nordic producers.
