PRODUCTION Italy

On My Own co-produces Spike Lee

by

Spike Lee’s “first Italian film” also marks the first project of On My Own, the new production company founded by Roberto Cicutto and Luigi Musini, who recently sold their shares of Mikado and became 50% partners on the $45m film (the other half of the budget comes from the US director’s company along with a contribution from the Tuscany Film Commission, which is currently working to institute a film fund).

Miracle at St. Anna – the working title of the story on the Nazi massacre in Sant’Anna di Stazzema, in Tuscany, in August 1944 (see news) – is scheduled to shoot in early 2008 in Tuscany and Cinecittà with an Italian crew and still undecided cast (of Italian, German and US actors).

"We were the first [producers] that Spike Lee turned to the for the co-production of his Italian-set project because in the past we worked numerous times on the Italian distribution of his films,” said Cicutto proudly, adding that the new film’s Italian distributor could even be Mikado, "with whom we maintain close working ties".
