Thus spoke Nanni Moretti to the press – from the Restored Cinema Festival in Narni, where he screened Ecce Bombo (1978) to audiences in Umbria – of his enjoyable and recently terminated experience working with director Antonello Grimaldi.

“We finished shooting last Tuesday but there’s still a week left that we will shoot this winter. In the meantime, the director has already begun editing and the film will be in theatres in March”.

In Caos Calmo (based on the eponymous novel by Sandro Veronesi) Moretti returns to acting, 11 years later, in a film that he is not directing. “I collaborated on the screenplay, which simplifies several very beautiful chapters of the novel, but with a con exquisitely value. My character, Pietro Paladini, is very different from those I usually write and play. He expresses a very strong emotion that I felt I wanted to relate: the anticipation of the explosion of pain of a man who is afraid of being abandoned”.

The story, in the novel set in Milan, in the film is transferred to Rome “as agreed upon by the director and producer Domenico Procacci”.

He is also continuing his duties as artistic director of the Turin Film Festival: “We’re rather behind,” he confessed. “We’ve seen many films but have so far selected few”.
