M6 On the Move
French television channel M6, is expanding its borders by purchasing the catalog of Mandarin productions and going into partnership for its future projects. The production company, created in 1996, is famous in France for having launched director Fabien Onteniente and his films, Jet Set and Trois zeros. This acquisition and M6's new role as co-producer indicate a new strategy for the television channel, though for some time already it has been involved in cinemagraphic activities with M6 Films (production) and SND (acquisition and distribution), in order to secure priority access to new films. M6 is one of the principal candidates to take over Canal+ and its affiliates. Its increasing strength may make the channel a major player in French film production.
