DOK Leipzig: Ten days left to submit applications
From October 29-November 4, DOK Leipzig, the international documentary and animation film festival, will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Directors and producers wanting their films to take part in this anniversary edition (in the official programme and the DOK Market) have until July 28 to submit their applications.
Founded in 1955, DOK Leipzig is Germany’s largest documentary and animation festival. The talent of directors from the world over (last year the event presented 400 titles from 50 countries) is appreciated by an enthusiastic public, which to date numbers around 25,000.
For its 50th anniversary, alongside its four competitive sections, the festival will host a retrospective featuring previously banned films. Among the other special programmes is Paradise in Documentary. Participants can also assist in discussions, workshops and meetings, such as the International Co-production Meeting (which this year will focus on France, Poland, Switzerland and Austria).
There is no shortage of events for new talent either, from the new competition Generation DOK, aimed at young documentary filmmakers, to pitches from the Discovery Campus Masterschool.
In order to take part in the programme, applicants have to propose films that have not been screened to the public before mid-July 2006.
