Walther directs murder feature

The Black Forest city of Freiburg will be the filming location for Connie Walther’s Schattenwelt from August 29, which will move to Berlin mid-September.

In her feature debut for cinema, Nevermind the Wall, Walther (acclaimed for her shorts and television films) tells of a girl from West Berlin and a young punk from the East.

In Schattenwelt, scripted by Ulrich Herrmann and Peter Jürgen Boock, a confrontation of a different kind takes place, when Red Army Faction head (Ulrich Noethen, Himmler in the recent hit comedy Mein Führer: The Truly Truest Truth About Adolf Hitler [+see also:

) – released from prison after doing a 20-year sentence for his suspected murder of a banker and his gardener – meets his charming neighbour Valerie (Franziska Petri), who swears she knows the truth about the murder. The former prisoner has no idea that she is the gardener’s daughter.

Also starring Uwe Kockisch, Tatja Seibt and Eva Matte, the feature is being produced by Tina Hegewisch for Gambit Film, in co-production with Next Film Berlin, ARTE and Bayerische Rundfunk.

Schattenwelt was financed by the MFG Baden-Württemberg and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg regional funds, Germany’s Ministry for Culture and the new DFFF fund.
