FILM COMMISSION Italy

The AFC meets all expectations and starts in pole position.

Within the prestigious ambit of the Venice Days section, the Apulia Film Commission officially revealed the first productions to be funded and explained what are the conditions to apply and what services are offered.

Eight productions (features, documentaries, and shorts) have already been granted support. They will benefit from different services as well as a financial support which, so far, cannot exceed €30.000 – although bigger fundings could be announced in the next few months.

Like other film commissions and tax shelter systems, the Apulia Film Commission requires that 150% of the money granted should be spent in the Puglia region. Moreover, 30% of the cast and crew must be from Puglia. Requests must also be presented by local producers, which will force big productions to get local companies involved. The meeting was attended by Marco Muller and Ermanno Olmi, as well as several Italian producers with access to the world market.

The charm of the Puglia region is undeniable. We may soon see a Hollywood starlet eating mozzarella with the Adriatic Sea in the background.
