Szylko’s System begins filming
The first project of the screenwriting workshop (Laboratorium Scenariuszowe) of the Polish Filmmakers Association (SFP), System by Izabela Szylko, began principal photography yesterday.
The Laboratorium Scenariuszowe initiative was set up in 2005 by the SFP in order to increase the number of well-developed Polish projects and to help new young talent starting out on the national market.
System is the first film to be supervised by director Maciej Dejczer (Bandyta, “Brute”). The film portrays an elderly woman, who turns her hand to games of chance with the help of a very elaborate system. Her life changes when she meets a young man and games of chance are probably not the only ones she indulges in.
In front of DoP Wojciech Staron’s camera we find Alina Janowska, who made her debut appearance in the first Polish film of post-WWII, Zakazane piosenki (1947). Other cast members include Piotr Fronczewski, Wojciech Siemion, Anna Majcher, Olgierd Łukaszewicz, Łukasz Simlat and Krzysztof Dracz.
The film is being produced by Wytwórnia Filmów Dokumentalnych i Fabularnych and backed by the PISF.
