Neue Kinowelt launches new projects

by

Neue Kinowelt Filmproduktion GmbH (NKF), the new branch of the Kinowelt group based in Berlin and directed by Hermann Florin and Boris Schönfelder, already has several projects on the go, ranging from comedies and children’s films to thrillers.

Well-known actor Til Schweiger is returning for the fourth time behind the camera (without leaving the screen) for the comedy Zwei Ritter geben Vollgas, the story of two knights who want to save the beautiful princess Herzelinde. Rick Kavanian plays the second knight. Principal photography is planned to begin in March 2008, for a 2009 release.

Der Mann aus Ardistan will be a biographical film on Karl May, the most sold German author in the world, in particular for his adventure novels (more than one of which has inspired films). Hendrik Handloegten (Paul Is Dead, Learning to Lie) will direct. Handloegten is currently working with Achim von Borries (Love in Thoughts).

NKF projects in advanced stages of development include a co-production with Odeon Film and Enigma Film called Run for Your Life!, which Beta Cinema presented at Cannes this year. The film, which has now wrapped up filming, is based on the incredible destiny of Andreas Niedrig, a heroin addict who became a triathlon athlete. The story is based on a biography of the athlete written by Jörg Schmitt-Kilian, which gives its name to the film. The star of Adnan Köse’s feature debut is played by Max Riemelt (NaPolA).

Lastly, NKF is producing Friedliche Zeiten ("Peaceful Times"), a tragicomedy by director Neele Leana Vollmar (Urlaub vom Leben), which went into production last month. Scripted by Ruth Toma (Emma’s Bliss [+see also:
