The way forward for the European film industry

On November 7, the Brussels headquarters of the European Parliament will host a one-day seminar entitled New Potential, New Opportunities: The Way Forward for the European Film Industry, organised by EGEDA, in association with Catalan MEP Ignasi Guardans (Vice-Chairman of the Committee on International Trade and Member of the Committee on Culture and Education).

Aiming to analyse the main challenges Europe's film industry is currently facing, the event will be divided into three sessions focused on three different topics: video on demand and new digital delivery services, financing of audiovisual works and international cultural exchanges.

Representatives of the EU institutions, film professionals and specialists active in the creative industries are invited to reflect and share their views on the new platforms of distribution, on ways to attract more public and private investment to the film sector and on how to support and promote cultural exchanges internationally.

The list of participants includes, among others, the President of EGEDA Enrique Cerezo, producer Agustín Almodóvar (El Deseo), director Gerardo Herrero (Tornasol) and UGC CEO Alain Sussfeld.

The seminar will be followed by the premiere screening of 13 Roses [+see also:

, held as part of FestCEAL, which opens the same day in Brussels' Flagey centre. Director Emilio Martinez Lázaro and actress Pilar López de Ayala will introduce the film, which was released in Spain on October 19.
