BFS make American theatrical bow with Kings

Well-known North American home video distributors BFS Entertainment & Multimedia are all set to make their first foray into theatrical distribution with Tom CollinsKings. The acclaimed film stars Colm Meaney and is Ireland’s official entry for the 2008 Foreign Language Film Academy Award nomination.

The company is planning a carefully targeted release of the film across North America. Denis Donnelly, CEO of BFS Entertainment said: “We are very excited about Kings and see it as the ideal candidate for our expansion into theatrical distribution where our niche distribution expertise will provide the focused attention that is so often required. We intend to handle the theatrical market with Panorama Entertainment in New York, a leading independent film theatrical distribution company who have worked with us previously on other projects.”

London-based High Point Films, a division of Carey Fitzgerald’s High Point Media Group, finalised the deal after a long negotiation process at the recently concluded American Film Market.

Fitzgerald said: “Kings is a unique film that needs a special kind of approach. We have worked with BFS for many years, most recently on James Threapleton’s Extraordinary Rendition and found them to be leaders in the North American DVD market. We are confident that their move into theatrical will prove just as successful. We are delighted to have Kings at the forefront of such exciting developments.”
