Storm Force sweeps across Asia and Americas

by

Belgium’s highest-grossing film of last year, Hans Herbot's blockbuster Storm Force 10 (226,422 admissions), is enjoying success both in the Americas and Asia.

The television and DVD rights to the film have been bought by High Point Television (High Point Media Group’s British division), by MTI in the US, American Video in Latin America, Jiant Pictures in Taiwan and DD Dream in China.

Produced by Erwin Provoost and Peter Bouckaert (see interview) for MMG Film & TV Production, Storm Force is an action film based on a popular Flemish television series tracing the experiences of a helicopter rescue team (see news) and stars well-known Belgian actors Koen de Bouw and Kevin Janssen (see interview).

Carey Fitzgerald, director of High Point Media Group, expressed his delight at this success: "It’s a widely held belief that action films are the birthright of exclusively English-language territories. But Storm Force is a strong example of good, solid filmmaking that flies in the face of such accepted wisdom. We passionately believe – and have proven time and again – that language should be no barrier to any film as long as it delivers what the audience wants and Storm Force does exactly that".

High Point Media Group has other Belgian hit films to its name, including Frank Van Mechelen’s Hell in Tangier [+see also:
